set again!!!

oh I have had a really good idea (thanks to inspiration form thomasin) urm basically if we had a main framework to the set such as the model theatre yet have bits of it that allow the audience to see through round or behind the scenery to show a kind of back stage setting which would allow for the actors to be constantly on stage and which would tie in well with those backhanded comments of the characters.it could give the impression that we are whatching a play being made (in a similar vein to Noises off) one thing I would really like to get across is the feel of old age theatre if you watched Phantom of the opera you know what I mean. I want to use some old stage technolegy and techniques "tricks of the trade"in the design such as the use of backdrops and stage hands?
what the set should be made out of is things such as canvas and old looking wood timbre frames
and use one of those white cloths as house tbs that can have a warm red shone on to it and plenty of swags and fringes and you could play the whole show like a panto when you have scene changes behind frontcloths yet because it is a gauze you could have dim lighting that would show the stage hands at work or for any short scenes you could have them behind ?

and to add to the whole we could also have those old limelight shells at the front of the stage!!

I think this is a really exciting idea - I can see lots of coils of ropes etc.

I'm also very excited at the moment by the idea of feeding the audience - possibly running a pizzeria - "Brighella's" - so that the audience can come in early and become involved in the experience.

Can the two be combined? Can we convince the audience that they've come out for a meal and have a play thrown in for free!!?

I think we can if you make it in the smae style as a cabaret would be set up and this could be done for one night and people have to book ahead and pay for drinks and nibbles like a mini bar and have tables around the edges of the stage and then for all the other nights clear the tables and have normal theatre seating though the only real way to do all this would be to have the old pros. taken down and new seating. what would be really good and an advantage to the theatre I.E. more people would be able to watch would be to have a perminant balcony built on three sides of the theatre and with perminant seatng on it and this could also hold the grid like a proper studio style theatre and then you have enough space to do what ever you liked on ground level. including people eating on the floor level and people watching on the upper...........cool huh!

Probably cost alot of money though

Toby, apparently, worked in various pizzerias as a young man and wants to be the head chef, and Mr. Fraser is by far the most polished gastronome in Hill Forts, so they should be the italians! AND as performers/FOH staff, SOMEBODY ELSE can be in charge of the show!!! (Mr. P? - employ Jenny Coles for minimum wage?)
