The plot is extremely complicated so colours could be used to identify which characters are in love with which. For this reason Clarice wears the same colours as Silvio.
I think using colours in this way is a very good idea and would really help the audience. I'm not sure how some characters would fit into such a scheme - which master would Truffaldino be identified with? - but I guess it needn't be a rigid scheme. I think we'd want to stop short of 'colour coding' but I agree it could be a vital way of helping the audience
